Flies!!!

Shaun and I killed around 30 flies this morning!  Every time I sit down, three more appear and proceed to mock us by zipping around the living room.  Shaun thinks they are zombie flies, and I’m inclined to agree with him.

Not So Grand Theft Auto

So about 6:00 this morning, Goebel (my roomie) comes and wakes me up to inform me that my car alarm was set going off.  So I stumbled around my room for about five minutes searching for my keys.  As I finally made my way out to the curb, I saw that the drivers side window had been shattered.  Then I saw that my sweet Alpine stereo, that allows me to plug in my iPod and control it through the stereo, was missing.  I quickly ran around to the other side to see if my 80GB video iPod had be stolen as well.  Secretly positioned in my glove compartment, I was glad to find out that it was safe and secure.

Oddly enough, I am not too terribly upset that my car was broken into.  I was very happy to see my iPod hadn’t been stolen, along with the 60 some CDs that I have in back seat.  It quite the inconvenience now that I have to take the car in, and deal with the insurance company.

The part that made me furious was the fact that the thief did it at freaking 6 in the morning!!!  All this week I’ve been getting up early to study for a Greek midterm, and a couple of quizzes.  I was very excited to come home last night and get a good 10-11 hours of sleep in last night.  Instead, I got a good six and half, and then was forced to try to fall back to sleep.  We all know that kind of sleep is actually the worse kind of sleep.  Especially, considering the circumstances.  My car had been broken into.  The sun had already started lighting up my room.  My mind was racing thinking about the situation.  I laid in my bed for a good hour before I was able to go back to sleep.  Unfortunately, it was only for another hour or so.

And I’m still pissed from not being able to sleep in this morning.

Over/Under

Last night after the Oak Lawn West bible study, a group of us headed over to Capitol Pub for some beers and appetizers.  At one point during the night, Goebel asked me what I thought the over/under on the temperature of our house was going to be when we got home. We got our first electric bill the other day and it was $600!!!  So we decided we would start turning off the AC when we left the house.

Now last night was one of the nicest nights for sitting outside we’ve had in a couple of months now.  I think it’s largely because of a storm, called Edouard, that is blowing through the gulf right now.  With a cool breeze blowing across our table, I offered 86 degrees as my number for over/under.  Goebel then offered a response of “over.  I bet its 88 degrees when we get home.”

Thirty minutes later we arrived at the house only to find the thermostat maxed out pass the 90 degree mark.  Even on one of the best days during the Texas summer, our house still found a way to be blazing hot, even at 12:30 in the morning.
